Someone in our family is about to celebrate a pretty big, pretty awesome milestone birthday. We, my younger brother and sister, thought it would nice to throw her a surprise birthday party. We selected a date, secured a venue, what kind of food to serve, and we even created a party board on Pinterest! Things were moving along really well. Until we stumbled upon a minor glitch.
I employed a fabulous helper to sort of plant the seed of, “Oh yeah, my birthday is coming up. I wonder what we should do.” She did a great job, almost too good of a job. And before I knew it the birthday celebrant was ready to throw herself a party!
We can’t have that now, can we? So, we were left with no choice but to let the birthday girl in on her surprise. Although it is no longer a surprise, I know that she still feels special. And that’s what matters most.
