Long Weekend Mobile

Welcome back, friends! Don’t you wish all weekends are 4-day weekends?!? I just love the feeling when you think it’s Saturday, but it’s Friday! We filled our long weekend with plenty of food, lots of fun, some Christmas shopping, and a few games of basketball.

1. This Thanksgiving, I was in charge of dessert. Chocolate Mousse to be exact. The only problem is that I lost the recipe that I’ve used for 10 years! You would think that after making this dessert for that long I would have it memorized. That’s just not how my cooking/baking brain works. I sort of memorize things, but I like to have the recipe there to make sure that it’s absolutely perfect. I ended up making two versions of the mousse. A good version and a perfect version. Somehow it did come back to me – only after I realized what I had done wrong during my first attempt. Just so I never forget this recipe, I think a blog post complete with pictures is in order!

2. Along with something rich and sweet, I was also in charge of making something savory for our Thanksgiving potluck. Tom Douglas‘ smashed garlic-fried potatoes sounded perfect. Luckily for me, I had my cookbook. No improvising involved. They were crispy and garlic-y perfection.

3. Craft Night with some rose` and chocolate chip cookies is WAY better than braving the malls to cash in on Black Friday deals.

4. The Friday after Thanksgiving is called Black Friday. Which translated means, stay as far away from the mall as possible. That’s how I interpret it. I actually try to get a lot of our Christmas shopping done online. But this year, we ventured out to University Village to try our luck. We were pleasantly surprised by the lack of crazies and also a lack of long lines. Plus we were able to cross off a few names from our Christmas list – score!

5. My favorite find on our shopping expedition. JCrew had an amazing deal on Baggu bags. So we got 4 of them! They will make great gifts, but I’m thinking that I may need one too, haha. Which one do I choose? I’m sort of loving the elephant bag.

6. No trip to University Village is complete without stopping by Trophy Cupcakes! Nutella, Strawberry Lemonade, Salted Caramel and (new) Pumpkin Pie cupcakes came home with us. Yum. Yum. Yum!

I hope that your Thanksgiving was warm and filled with all the people that you love!

Andrea

On Friday, I asked what everyone had planned for the weekend. Here’s my answer.

1. We started our weekend off with a party. (We brought some super yummy, mini apple pies.) Who doesn’t love a party?!? Especially when you get to celebrate another great GU9 soccer season. I’m very proud of my little soccer player. Isabella has always been apprehensive when playing against much bigger opponents. I don’t blame her, I would be a little afraid going up against someone bigger/taller than me, haha. But this season, she pushed passed that and did awesome – and scored a ton of goals!

2. No, I am not wearing leopart print fleece pants. Our Saturday morning because with an early basketball tournament game. It was cold in there! Even with my coffee and blanket, I was freezing! Definitely not typical for indoor sports. But that didn’t bother Ben’s team. They finished the day 2-0, going against some pretty tough competition.

3. One thing I will truly miss is the drive home on the Alaskan Way Viaduct. Once construction begins, we will love one of the most beautiful ways to view Seattle. Which is made even more beautiful with the Great Wheel. Sigh.

4. Love that the Seattle Seahawks gave veterans near and far a shout out and a win!

5. Continuing our West Seattle tradition, another visit to Bakery Nouveau for some cookies for the kids and Half – Bakeds for me.

6. In the midst of a 2 tournament weekend, we were able to celebrate with one of our favorite one year old cowboys! We were treated to delicious food and our favorite balloon artist, The Balloon Baffoon. Having 4 kids, we’ve seen our share of balloon men and women. He can make anything – monkeys on trees, aliens, ladybug bracelets, fishing poles, and my favorite, an octopus complete with tentacles!

Whatever you guys did, I hope that it was awesome!

Another glorious weekend has come and gone! Ours was a little busier than we had originally anticipated. When a free tournament falls into your lap, it’s hard to say no. But we were able to sneak in a few more cuddles and catch up on movies we missed in the theater.

How was your weekend? Tell me about it, I love hearing about all the fun things you guys are doing! I hope that it was filled with awesome!

It was a cold and wet weekend, my friends. But it was still filled with sugar (lots of it) and spice, and glitter and lots of fun! I hope that your weekend was equally awesome!

Call me crazy, but I’m sort of happy that today is Monday! We did so many amazing things over the weekend. We celebrated birthdays. We pretended to be tourists in our own city. I tried to channel my inner photograher. And we partied, hard! Celebrating Eleanor’s 4th birthday at the pool with her little friends, and celebrated my mom’s 60th birthday party with our family and friends.

Wow! Holy hot weekend, my friends! In the northwest, we love our sunshine and we like our heat. But you cannot give it to us all at once. And if you can give us glorious hot weather in 10 degree increments. We are not fans of 70s to high 90s!

It was indeed a scorcher! But it was a great weekend nonetheless. And it was a fabulous weekend to enjoy basketball, Seafair and the Blue Angels!

Hoping you all had an awesome fun weekend!

To say our weekend has been filled with sports is an understatement. It was a pretty mellow one for my own children. But we were busy cheering on our Team USA hopefuls. We love the Olympics! I have been a wreck with all of those P&G “Thank you, Mom” commercials – goodness!

London Games | A sports essential | Our sweeper, stopper, center-mid | Sitting pretty in a giant camping chair | Eleanor channeling her inner pouty, Betty Rubble | Dining Al Fresco | Bring them back, please | Trader Joe’s shopper training

How was your weekend? Did you watch the Opening Ceremonies? No matter what you did, I hope your weekend was awesome!

Andrea
