Pretty Party | Mama J + Baby M

It’s Friday, my friends. Who doesn’t love a Friday?!? I’m hoping I can give you another reason to love this day – by sharing this super sweet, baby shower for Mama J + Baby M.

Like most of the parties I’ve shared here, it was a labor of love. I’m not sure where or when it started. But every time there is an important event or milestone in our family, the cousins (Crafty Cousins Creative) band together to help make that event even more special. Whether it’s creating beautiful invitation suites for weddings, baking delicious cupcakes for birthdays, cooking amazing food for showers, or crafting beautiful little details every type of party in between. Together we can always make anything better and more beautiful.

Sisterly Bond | I couldn’t resist capture this moment while we said a little blessing.

The Milk Bar | Ruffled cake stands, blue suitcases (source) and mini paper fans + homemade Momofuku Milk Bar Cookies (cookbook).

Details | Labels to match the invitation + Blueberries and Cream Cookies (recipe).

Food | Honey Lime Chicken Skewers (recipe). YUM!

Details | DIY Stained Mason Jars (tutorial) + original geo painting by my little sister.

And lastly, how adorable are the Lolas (Tagalog for Grandmother)!?! They seriously LOVED these photo props. I think they had more fun with than the younger set did!

This is where we got our sense of family from, these ladies. They’ve taught us that family always sticks together and helps each other out. Thankfully, we’ve been blessed many times over, so we’ve only had to help each other with fun, beautiful, and joyous occasions – like this shower. But I know that even when we face super hard times, we will always be there for each other. I mean if we can make parties like these happen, only imagine what we can do!

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!

Andrea

Yesterday was a great day! It started like most of our days’ do. Eleanor will sneak into our bed for some cuddles before we get ready for the day. We head downstairs to eat breakfast. The big kids take their time waking up, so breakfast is a pretty drawn out. I make some coffee and check in on work emails.

Theast few 4ths, we’ve spent with our wonderful neighbors. They are like family to us. But this year we wanted to spend the holiday with my cousins, the cousins 2.0, and our parents. Like most of our family get togethers we like to rotate hosting duties. This year was our turn. So after a quick tidying up of the house, I saw that we needed to add something festive for the occasion. That’s when I remembered I had a ton of Hygloss Tissue Paper Circles left over from a previous craft project.

And with a few, okay, very many tissue paper circles, sewing thread and tape, this is what happened.

A simple, easy and quick polka dot backdrop, totally made our party more festive in minutes!

How – To:
1. Arrange your tissue paper circles in your desired pattern. Mine is Red, Blue.
2. Cut your thread to the desired length.
3. Place thread over the tissue paper circles.
4. Tape the thread to the circles. I found that placing them closer to the perimeter worked best. It really helped with the spin factor :)
5. Decorate your space with your new tissue paper cirlce garland.

so,
Andrea

Yes! It’s Thursday and it’s a little bit more fabulous than normal because I’ve got crafting and parties on the brain. Crafting and parties always make me happy, but this time I’m seriously over the top excited! In just a few short weeks, one of my favorite people in the world is going to welcome a brand new baby boy into this wonderful world and into our hearts. Baby boy’s mama just happens to be one of my cousins.

So, with all of our Crafty Cousin powers combined (yes, I just reference Captain Planet) + Pinterest, we will shower Baby Boy A and his mama with a sweet and stylish celebration.

Recap | Portland Bazaar

13.12.11

Hello, friends!  This past weekend was far less busy than usual.  And since we are always on the go, it felt sort of strange not having to be at a certain place at a certain time.  Believe me, I don’t always feel this way.  When the chance to veg out and do thing presents itself, I’m usually all over it!  But when you have a ‘free’ day and it so happens to be the same day that something awesome not too far away is also going to happen – you have to go!

That something awesome was the Portland Bazaar.  After talking to many of the vendors, most of them running on little sleep from the day before, it was both awesome and crazy busy.  Luckily we got their just as the doors opened on Sunday morning, before the craft events and book signings began.  What did we find there?  So many wonderful things created by local Portland-area artists.  Things that make me happy and inspire me.

Love these vintage dresses from Yo Vintage.  Both of these came home with us, plus an awesome leopard print blazer!

So many awesome things at this booth, but I love that painted antler.  Nice Work. Bridge + Burn. Olo Fragrance.

These gorgeous pinwheel necklaces are on my wishlist.  So delicate and beautiful.  Stone+Honey

Loved the Egg Press booth.  Love the prints + their quirky cards.

Hanging paper mobiles from Frazier+Wing.

No, these were not available to purchase there =)  Eleanor and her cousin Miss C. were our helpers for the day.  Hopefully our trip, seeing all the different things you can make, will inspire them to pursue a creative job/endeavor in the future – I know it has inspired me.

A little bit like Christmas

07.12.11

Hello Wednesday + Hello, friends! Thank you for spending some time with me today.  My elves, I mean, my kids and I have been busy getting into the Christmas spirit.  We are starting little by little here.  I have to admit, that I’m a little slow with getting our house ready for Christmas this year, having wanted to focus on Thanksgiving fully. (Pardon the pun)

We started off with the Nativity.  We are down one Wise Man because a certain playful toddler broke him many years ago.
The gift giving started early around here. Nestled inside this box is one of my current obsessions – an owl! Not just any owl though, an adorable mercury owl from West Elm!
It doesn’t stop there!  I participated in a Secret Santa Ornament Exchange – I LOVE it, Santa!
That brings me to this tree.  It’s not just any tree.  It is the cutest table-top tree that you could ever see.  During a Girls Brunch a couple weeks ago, we walked past Whole Foods and saw a forest of these tiny babies.  I knew that I had to bring one home.  People must have gotten a kick from him that day.  Shopping bags in one hand and mini Christmas tree in the other, haha.  I did get quite a few compliments on the tree on the way to the car.  Even before I got home that day, I knew exactly what I wanted to put on my special tree.  Confetti System inspired ornaments!  I’ve only had time to make a handful, but hopefully after the 1st Annual Christmas Cousin Craft Night I will have enough to decorate my entire tree.

How have you gotten your home ready for the Holidays?  Have pics?  I would love to see them!
