Nothing is more glorious than summer in the greater Seattle area. No matter what you love to do, there is something for you to do. Whether you love being outdoors, enjoying art exhibits, dining at amazing restaurants, shopping – there is something for you. And more recently, the fun quotient has been upped a couple of notches. With the additions of the Seattle Great Wheel to the already amazingly awesome Seattle Waterfront. (We just crossed this off of our Summer Bucket List TODAY!)
And on the East side, the Bellevue Art Museum is unveiling a rooftop sculpture garden – awesome! And to kick things off in style, they are throwing an amazing party – BAMignite Funk Out on Friday (8/17). It is a can’t miss event, fusing together their latest exhibits with music performance art and interactive experiences. If you ask my, a night out in Bellevue is already wonderful. But a night out in Bellevue at a rooftop sculpture garden, super awesome!
The night will include:
Music:
KEXP DJs Dareck Mazzone and Chilly will be spinning Funk, Soul, HipHop and World Music.
Seattle’s legendary soul collective, Marmalade will be performing live beats.
Performance Art:
Contemporary African dance and percussion by Gansango. Spoken word performaces by Marita Isabel and Okanomode`.
Shapes and Movements:
An interactive audio/visual experience by Seattle’s creative agency I Want YouBe a curator! Bring an object you love, share its story and help curate an impromptu community exhibit.
To help celebrate, the BAM is giving away tickets to local readers. Simply leave a comment by 8/15 and a winner will be selected at random.
