Imagine this, if you will. School has just ended, summer sports and other activities are in full swing, you are happily busy with work, making sure that everyone is taken care of. But you have somehow forgotten about yourself. This happens all too often for me, sadly. I’m pretty sure that many of you out there can relate – it is so very easy to do when you are Mom. You always make sure to put the needs of your family before yours.
We are well into summer vacation, and I definitely needed a Mama Time-Out. More like a Mama Night Out. A couple weeks ago, the opportunity to attend the pre-opening event to a new-to-Washington wine mecca, Total Wine.
So, on an unusually activity free night, a dear friend and I spent a couple of blissful hours catching up over delicious food and fabulous wine. All the while, exploring this ‘Disneyland for Adults.’
One of my favorite Reds – love Abeja! What I really love is that, while Total Wine first opened stores in other states, Total Wine is local (The president is a from Bellevue and a WSU grad even!) and even better – supports local. Everywhere I turned there was another fabulous Washington wine. I think I may have even found a new favorite Red, Col Solare Red Wine Blend. Oh so smooth!

Not to worry, if wine isn’t your thing. They have a great beer and spirits selection. You won’t be disappointed, the selection is incredible! AND, there is more. They even have an education center, where they will host wine tastings. So when you can’t get yourself to Walla Walla or Chelan, all you have to do drive to Total Wine.

In the past, I used to turn down opportunities like these. Thinking that the way to be the best me, the best wife, the best mom is to always be there. For some it might be, but for me it’s not. I sort of laugh about it now actually, the guilty feeling I would get for passing up some time to myself.
It is pretty amazing how a couple hours of not being Mom feels, it is pretty amazing being Andrea for a change. It definitely left me feeling refreshed, inspired and ready to jump back into my favorite role/job – Mama/Mom/Mommy.
xo,
Andrea
